Over the last two weeks, you have been building up data so you can begin planning the business you want to create

Today we will do planning 101 which is simply looking at NEEDS.

In your keyword search yesterday you found a number of words and phrases and their popularity.

Earlier you looked at who else was out there and what they were doing so today you will create two columns

One column is labeled Need

and the other is labeled why would anyone want this need met WIIFM – what’s in it for me(them).

Some examples:

So need might be a business plan the WIIFM could be because the plan gives step by step guidance so nothing is missed or left out plus it makes it clear what needs to be done to achieve success.

If the need is for a desk the WIIFM could be to provide an attractive but functional piece of furniture that makes the owner want to sit at the desk, provides storage for all the bits and pieces and also provides adjustable heights so that different family members can use the desk at different times.

Features are those things that describe the item but people buy on emotion so today look at why people would buy you.

Word of warning – people who you think ‘like you and will buy from you’ are often the last people who will buy from you.

Tomorrow we will look at step 2 of planning
