Knowing the basic numbers in business is important for a business ownerssuccess.

1,2,3......Count on

 In a previous blog, I spoke of 3,5, 7. Today I want to look at 1, 2, 3…..

One,1 represents YOU. One is also about unity, that oneness that comes when people work with a common purpose. One is the starting point, where and when you take the first step. It is also the starting point for counting, money, buyers, leads and anything else. Until you have one buyer, you have no business. You are offering your services but no one is buying you. You are like a doggy in the window that no one wants.

Two,2, makes a transaction. The dog is bought, the deal is done. There is some exchange. The exchange can be pleasant or unpleasant but something has occurred. You also now have the ability to compare things when you have two. Two is important because it makes your business truly a business.

Three,3, is the most powerful number. It is the trinity, the building block on which everything else is built. It brings stability to the structure. Three is the key to purpose – your needs, your buyer’s needs and your community’s needs. Three makes things go round rather than just back and forth.

Four,4 is the number of evaluation or analysis. There are four aspects against which we can evaluate everything – the physical, the mental, the emotional and the spiritual. As human beings we are all four parts and each part must be satisfied to be fulfilled.

Five,5 is the number for solving problems or for bringing the holistic to a being. Five is also the number of agreements that assist you in living a passionate, purposeful life.

Six, 6 is the number of faithful servants that aid communication. When you use the who, what, where, why, when and how to assist you in all you present to others, you improve the message. When you use these servants in your communication, you improve the exchange so that both parties feel supported.

Seven, 7 is the methods or principles of doing successful business. Seven also deals with the ideal number for holding meetings or creating new ideas

Eight, 8 relates to information. It builds on the six faithful servants and takes the information from raw data through the next two stages, synthesis and creation of useful information.

Nine, 9 is about structure. Using the triad principle, three again, you build a  team that links and can move to achieve goals. Three threes keep the communication clear, the objectives evident and the planning to achieve. Nine is also the number of sections that form a good business plan. – Purpose, Vision, Mission, Values, Internal people (staff), External people (buyers), Resources, Legal compliance and the forecasts (sales, purchases, salaries, rent, overheads, legal compliances, loan repayments (including your investment), future investment and equipment utilization).

Ten, 10 represents capacity. Your capacity to effectively manage anything  is based on ten things at a time.

Eleven, 11 deals with transformation. When you can go beyond ten, you can transform and start again.

And finally twelve,12. Twelve has many meanings. It is four threes, two sixes, six twos. Twelve means completion. At twelve you go start a spiral and take your business to another level.

Numbers are a part of your life and your business. Make numbers you friend but remember that people matter more.

Please comment on the numbers that help you most in your business.

  1. Hi Roberta, thanks for breaking things down by the numbers. My favorite is number 3 where everyone is happy and you know that you have just done something special for someone from your community. Nicely done.

    • I love three Ileane. It is such an important number and one with so many tools and tips that we use with clients attached. I just might do a blog just on the number three. And we need to always keep in mind that we live and work in a community and need to take care of the community if we want it to take care of us

  2. I love the way you think Roberta! This is an awesome list! I find that so many bloggers and people wanting to make money online forget about #2. Strange, isn’t it?

    • SO often Martha, people forget that it is always about the transaction and the other person sadly.

  3. What a great way of thinking about numbers Roberta. I agree with Ileane. Number three is my favorite too. It takes the focus beyond ourselves and adds insight that a third point of view can bring. Your example for number six is right on! Thanks for an entertaining and somewhat different post.

    • Thanks Sherryl. In business numbers should be friends for very many reasons.

  4. thanks for the sight please

    • Thanks for visiting Jackson

  5. The one I relate to best is 5, bringing the holistic to a being. If you are working like crazy on a proposal but ignoring say, your diet or your family, it ain’t gonna work in the long run.

    6 faithful servants sounds intriguing.

    • Thanks Leora. I will put up the 6 faithful blog shortly. Numbers are important. And I too agree that the holistic matters most.
