In business, one of the greatest challenges a business owner faces is their own motivation.

If you have staff, you need to keep them motivated.
If you have clients, you need to keep them positive and believing in you and that means somehow staying motivated.
But keeping yourself motivated is HARD work when things are tough.
So here are some simple things to consider for keeping motivated:
- Remember that this too will pass so reframe problems into challenges and find a way through the situation
- Remember that your clients are the key to everything. Talk to them. Ask them how you are doing, what they like about you and more importantly ask them how you can help them more.
- Look at the language you use. Are your thoughts and words supporting you? Are you with people who support you? Change one word. Eliminate the (k)notty words in your life, one at a time.
Motivation is internal.
You make the choices.
You need to be in control.
There are many stories about being motivated and staying motivated but one of my favorites is still the starfish story. You know the one
One day I is walking along the beach and I see someone throwing something into the water.
I run up to him thinking he polluting and I want him to stop.
I get up to him and see him throw a starfish back into the water. I look up and down the beach and see hundreds of other starfish and I know that with the next tide more will arrive so I ask the man why he bothers
His answer ” Because it makes a difference to each one”. And he bends down and picks another starfish off the beach and tosses it back into the water. And as he does he says “another one skips the surf”.
Today, you make the choice to make a difference or surrender to the your fears and depression. Do something small that makes a difference to YOU and your business life.
